Sound Environments

Every year, Sound Environments, in conjunction with the National Cherry Festival, put on concert events on the Cherry Festival Mainstage. These events are the headline events for the week of the National Cherry Festival. During the summer of 2008, I had the opportunity to work for sound environments at this event, doing everything from setting up the stage and stage plots every night, to watching and learning from the front of house engineer Randy Nash. I learned a great deal about what was involved in these larger productions, and how much effort was involved to put on a simple concert. It was lots of hard work but I learned so much from this experience, including how to hang line arrays, how to read stage plots, how to wire large scale PA systems, how to get a cardioid subwoofer array, and the inner workings of a large show.
